MacBook Pro 16”

As much as I would love to move all of my computing needs strictly to my iPad Pro, my 16-inch MacBook Pro is the workhorse of my entire setup. It handles my work as an SEO Manager, which means I need a full-featured browser with extension capabilities, dev tools access, and more.

I also use the MacBook to handle the bulk of my photo editing in Lightroom and occasional gaming with Stadia.

While I have experimented with a Microsoft Surface Pro, I love the MacBook Pro because of its ability to be a portable, powerful computer that I can use on the go or docked when at home.

I upgraded to my current computer from a 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro around the middle of 2020 as working from home began to settle in, and I wanted a more robust machine to help get through it. The battery had become obsolete, rendering the computer useless when not connected to its charger. And, while I found it useable, the keyboard was far from perfect (as has been documented thoroughly across the internet), and I was happy to upgrade.

I ended up going with the mid-level 16-inch MacBook Pro with no upgrades, as I didn't feel my use cases were worth the extra costs. Some more reasons I went with the 16-inch MacBook Pro include the inclusion of 4 USB-C ports, the additional screen real estate, and longer battery life.

I use a Twelve South Curve stand to elevate the MacBook Pro to reclaim desk space and use it more ergonomically as a second screen when necessary.

So far, I have been quite happy with my decision and have found it more than capable of handling everything I throw at it (especially after removing Chrome). I'm looking forward to upgrading to a future 16-inch MacBook Pro with Apple's M1 chip, but I could easily see myself keeping this laptop for many years.
